Helping Those in Need in Our Congregation

Funeral Care Team — Provides food, hospitality, and other services to grieving families who have funeral services at HosannaHosanna collects aluminum for recycling and uses the proceeds to fund this ministry.

Mulkey Scholarships — The JOHN AND NANCY MULKEY SCHOLARSHIP was created to assist career-motivated Hosanna Lutheran Church high school seniors and undergraduate students in attending college (or to continue their studies), with emphasis on those students who have financial need. Members help raise funds to support the Mulkey Scholarship through special fundraising activities.

Transportation — Visitors or members who need transportation on Sunday mornings or at other times can call on others for a ride.

Visitation — In addition to pastoral visits, other members often visit those who are home-bound or hospitalized.

Helping Those in Our Community

Northwest Assistance Ministries – Hosanna is a founding member of this coalition of congregations united to address community needs better done at a larger scale. We help by

  • Providing annual covenant support
  • Purchasing Christmas gifts for needy children
  • Collecting contributions for NAM’s food pantry.
  • Preparing donated items for re-sale at the thrift store
  • Helping recruit volunteers for special NAM projects

Habitat for Humanity – This organization helps build low-cost homes for needy individuals. Hosanna provides annual covenant support, has sponsored the building of specific homes, and has participated in building opportunities.

Gulf Coast Blood Center – Hosanna has sponsored many blood drives for the community.

Eickenroht Elementary School (Spring ISD)

  • Monitor hallways during standardized testing periods
  • Support the KIDS Fund (Kids in Desperate Situations)
  • Providing treats for teachers and staff on special days
  • Spring Interfaith Council
  • Participate in the annual Spring Interfaith Thanksgiving service
  • Facilitate interfaith discussion groups

Citizenship Workshops — Hosanna offers meeting space to the Bonding Against Adversity organization to train volunteers for the New Americans Campaign, a network of organizations that aids legal permanent residents in completing the paperwork necessary to apply for citizenship.
