Kinsmen Lutheran Church will host their annual Community Thanksgiving Feast (free) and “Run for Your Turkey” 5K/10K Walk or Run on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021.
For health and safety reasons, the 12th annual Feast will be held via curbside pickup again this year. All are welcome to pick up a free Thanksgiving meal, then take it home to enjoy with family and friends either in person or virtually.
The traditional Thanksgiving meals are free of charge and include turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, rolls and pie. Meals will be given to the first 500 people starting at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Another Thanksgiving tradition at Kinsmen is the annual “Run for Your Turkey” 5K/10K walk or run, which is now in its 10th year. The race returns to an in-person event this year, stepping off at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day from Kinsmen Lutheran Church, 12100 Champion Forest Drive in Houston. From there it winds through the tree-lined neighborhood of Greenwood Forest, then brings participants back to Kinsmen to cross the finish line.
Registration for the 5K/10K walk or run is $30 through November 21. Proceeds from the event help fund the Thanksgiving Feast. Registration available soon.
In preparation for the holiday, a Thanksgiving Eve worship service will be held on Wednesday, November 24.
