Annual Events

African Initiative Team

  • Annual fall fundraiser to raise funds and to promote awareness for the recipients of the Kagera Scholarship Fund students who live in the Kagera region of Tanzania.  To date we have assisted over 400 students through this program-serving God, changing lives.
  • Basket sale of hand woven products by over 300 Women Craft artisans who reside with their families in 17 villages of the Kagera region of Tanzania.  100% of the proceeds of the sales go directly back to the artisans.

Book Groups

  • Book Club: Those who read and enjoy discussing what they have read meet six or seven times per year on Saturdays at 5:00pm in Classroom 5. Dinner at a local restaurant afterward is optional.

Care Team

  • Advent Workshop (families gather to make crafts to prepare for Christmas)
  • Texas Thanksgiving (adults share chili and pie, and play bunco for fellowship in November)

Church Council

  • Congregational Picnic in Fall
  • Lenten Soup Suppers (preceding Lenten worhip on Wednesday evenings)

Discipleship Team

  • Lutherhill Summer Camps
  • Vacation Bible School in the summer

Men of Hosanna

  • BBQ dinner and packing of care packages in spring
  • Breakfast at Luby’s in the spring
  • Fall Classic Golf Tournament
  • Good Friday Golf Tournament
  • SeaFarers’ Care Package Preparation (in winter)
  • Spring Fling (men cook and serve brunch for Women of the ELCA)

Mission Focus Team

  • “God’s Work, Our Hands”  (ELCA Servant Day in September and on other scheduled dates each quarter)
  • Hosanna in the Community (periodic congregational opportunities to serve locally)
  • New Americans workshop assists legal permanent residents in filling out the lengthy paperwork needed to apply for citizenship.

  • Harris County Precint 4 Senior Bus Trips
  • Movies
  • Thanksgiving Potluck

Staff Support Team

  • Receptions to Honor Staff (service anniversaries, special events, etc.)

Stewardship Team

  • Celebration Sunday Luncheon (to celebrate member giving)
  • Work Days in Spring and Fall (to clean up the building & grounds)

Women of the ELCA

  • Christmas in July Bake Sale
  • Fall Festival (including Trunk or Treat)
  • Spring Fling (brunch cooked and served by Men of Hosanna)

Young Adults

  • Periodic Meals and Fellowship Activities
